Creativity Meets Education🎭📚

PBS Kids "Race and Racism" Segment was used in a lesson today for some 1st-3rd graders at Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School🏢.

AMP artist and Montessori student,Rashad, bravely represented so many black and brown children and gave them hope through his kind words and wisdom🙌🏽❤.

Imagine how many personal breakthroughs are hindered in our children because district budgets don't always factor in arts education programs and self expression is limited or ridiculed in traditional, educational environments.

Confidence, relationship building and creative problem solving take place in artistic environments. These are life skills that transcend beyond the classroom‼️

Consider the civic engagement and sense of community realized by young children who are responsibly having conversations of such topics within diverse groups. 👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏽👩🏻‍🤝‍👨🏽👬🏽

Thank you Mr. Blake, a positive and influential guide for making time to facilitate this conversation in a safe space.🙏🏾

How many teachers, leaders and administrators in Baltimore City Public Schools are prepared to normalize artistic/creative experiences to promote sympathy and collaborative thinking during the instructional day?🤔
